Alexey Katherine Moore was born in Germany and attended German schools. Her family moved to the United States after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Living in Europe influenced her artistic understanding of history. Having spent her childhood amongst medieval architecture she developed a fascination with how architecture plays an important role in how humans react to their personal histories and surrounding scenes.
In her late twenties the longing for adventure brought Moore to Tucson, AZ, where she studied desert colors, and developed an affection for the South West landscapes and took classes in screen printing at Pima Community College.
In 2008 Moore moved to Portland OR earning a BFA degree in Illustration from The Pacific Northwest College of Art. In Portland Alexey fine tuned her paintings of ‘Scenescapes’; works that capture people that interact with urban landscapes. Portraits that relate persons to places and situations. This Portraiture combines a candid glimpse of individuals suggesting a sense of place and culture. Alexey’s work informs the viewer of history and personal location and individuality in ‘Scenescapes’.
In 2017 Moore moved back to the desert of Tucson, AZ and started drawing cartoons about her various experiences as a barista in Portland, OR. These cartoons would eventually become a regular series called Disgruntled Baristas. Microcosm Publishing came across these cartoons and published The Disgruntled Barista Coloring Book in 2021.
Currently Moore continues to paint and draw cartoons and can be spotted in galleries and shops in Connecticut, Oregon and Arizona.
